Andre Johnson: From the Gridiron to the Hall of Fame

A Look at the Life and Legacy of One of the NFL's Greatest Wide Receivers

The Early Years

Andre Johnson was born in Miami, Florida, and raised in the Liberty City neighborhood. He was a standout football player at Miami High School, where he earned All-State honors and led his team to a state championship. After graduating high school, Johnson attended the University of Miami, where he played wide receiver for the Hurricanes.

Johnson was a star at Miami, earning All-American honors and setting several school records. He was also a member of the Hurricanes' 2001 National Championship team.

NFL Career

Johnson was selected by the Houston Texans with the third overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He quickly became one of the most productive wide receivers in the league, and was named to seven Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams.

Johnson spent 12 seasons with the Texans, and led the team to the playoffs six times. He was the Texans' all-time leading receiver in yards, receptions, and touchdowns.

Hall of Fame Induction

In 2022, Johnson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was the first player in Texans history to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Personal Life

Johnson is married to Nicole Johnson, and they have three children. He is also a philanthropist, and has founded the Andre Johnson Foundation, which supports educational and athletic programs for children in underserved communities.
